Sometimes we want to restrict the acceptable versions to a list of
versions, or a smallest-version + largest-version, or both. For
instance, GStreamer's opencv plugin is only compatible with
3.1.0 >= opencv >= 2.3.0
We originally skipped on Windows for the same reason, and now we need to
do that for EPEL 7 and F23 which ship pkg-config 0.28 which doesn't have
--validate.

This approach is locale-independent and more correct. For instance, this
will work with UTF-16 while the previous approach with binary comparison
would not.
This also removes the need for doing an explicit decode to utf-8 which
is lossy and can fail by yielding no output at all.
We want compiler check arguments (-O0, -fpermissive, etc) to override
all other arguments, and we want extra_args passed in by the build file
to always override everything.
To do this properly, we must split include arguments out, append them
first, append all other arguments as usual, and then append the rest.
As part of this, we also add the compiler check flags to the
cc.compiles() and cc.links() helper functions since they also most
likely need them.
Also includes a unit test for all this.
Many frameworks, such as glib, provide translation functions and
functions that take format strings. As such every application using
these must duplicate the gettext arguments to function properly.
This reduces that duplication and improves correctness so they are
not left out.

For example if we know the tests takes more time because, for example
we are tracing it, or running with very high debug log level we might
not want the test to timeout.
In the normal case the user probably wants to set break point or
anything when running an app in gdb, we should let him a chance to
do so.
In the case he is running in a loop, it probably means he want to
reproduce a crash or a race inside gdb so we should just go and
run in gdb.
We probably miss a few options to give him more control.
Knowing whether a test failed to run as its prerequisites were not
available, or whether those prerequisites were available and produced
unexpected/incorrect results, is a useful differentiation.
Add support for skipped tests by testing for exit code 77, used through
autotools/piglit/etc to denote a test which detected this and decided to
skip.
The syntax file does syntax highlighting for numbers, string literals,
comments, etc. Also maintains a list of valid function names.
The plugin does auto-indentation for Meson with two spaces by default.
TODO: explicit errors for decimal numbers (right now, it's just
unhighlighted), check kwargs, default options, etc.
I hit an issue when building gtk-doc documentation. The issue is
my fault, but the error output from Meson makes it look like an
internal error:

Note the actual errors from xsltproc are swallowed by gtkdoc-mkhtml
1.25.1, they're only displayed in the example above because I made a
patch: <https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=774812>
The library from which we extract should have multiple sources
from which we choose a strict subset otherwise we're testing almost the
same case extracting all the objects.
This exposes a bug in how we were doing extract checking for unity
builds.
