Modern gcovr includes html generation support so if lcov and
genhtml are not available fallback to gcovr.
Kept lcov and genhtml as default so to not surprise existing
users of coverage-html with the different output of gcovr.
gcovr added html support in 3.0 but as there already is a test
for 3.1 because of the changes to -r/--rootdir I opted to only
allow html generation for >= 3.1 to keep things simple.
In gcovr 3.1 the -r/--rootdir argument changed meaning causing
reports generated with gcovr 3.1 to not find the source files
and look for *.gcda in the whole source tree rather than the
build dir.
So, detect gcovr version and if 3.1 give build_root to -r instead
of source_root.
Replace the logic where a test setup with no project specifier defaults to
the main project with one that takes the test setup from the same
(sub)project from where the to-be-executed test has been read from.
Use $project_name:$test_setup namespace scheme for test setups. This
allows one to choose from which (sub)project a test setup is taken from
should there be several sharing the same name. Defaults to the main
project. E.g. "meson test --setup subproj:valgrind".
Change the code to store D properties as plain data. Only convert them
to compiler flags in the backend. This also means we can fully parse D
arguments without needing to know the compiler being used.
This can help future generations avoid mistakes like this:

To avoid breaking builds, this is currently just an error. After
sufficient time has passed this can hopefully become a hard error,
similarly to the already-existing `permittedKwargs` warnings.
When building a Rust target with Rust library dependencies, an
`--extern` argument is now specified to avoid ambiguity between the
dependency library, and any crates of the same name in `rustc`'s
private sysroot.
Includes an illustrative test case.
The documentation doesn't require it and the interpreter code works around the
possibility of it being None. The ninja backend code however fails with
File "/home/whot/code/meson/mesonbuild/backend/ninjabackend.py", line 796, in generate_data_install
dstabs = os.path.join(subdir or None, plain_f)
File "/usr/lib64/python3.6/posixpath.py", line 78, in join
a = os.fspath(a)
TypeError: expected str, bytes or os.PathLike object, not NoneType
If install_dir is missing, default to datadir/projectname
There's no reason not to also look in these places on Cygwin or OSX. Don't
do this on Windows, as these paths aren't meaningful there.
Move test_cross_file_system_paths from LinuxlikeTests to AllPlatformTests.
As written in PR #2856, this code isn't quite right.
An ArgumentNode object can evaluate as False (if it's arguments attribute is
an empty sequence).
If that happens, we then try to hand the location kwarg down to print(),
rather than removing it, which causes an invalid keyword argument exception.
This failure can be seen e.g. when generating for gnome-twitch (See [1])

Unusually, the cygwin package for openmpi installs headers into
/usr/include, rather than /usr/include/openmpi
Prevent pkg-config from suppressing that -I flag, so a gfortran INCLUDE can
find those files
Also don't resolve -lfoo args only when libpaths are defined.
cc.find_library() also searches in the toolchain directories, and the
static library might be there.
Older versions of GDC had broken support for the -MQ flag (resulting in
a compiler error). New versions of GDC have this issue fixed (some older
versions received a backport). Starting with GCC 7.1 we can assume
dependency generation to always work reliably.
A hard error makes this feature useless in most cases since a static
library usually won't be found for every library, particularly system
libraries like -lm. Instead, warn so the user can provide the static
library if they wish.
This feature will be expanded and made more extensible and more usable
in the future.
Closes https://github.com/mesonbuild/meson/issues/2785
We missed one particular edge-case in #2413: when the generated vala
file is inside --basedir, the path is not just the basename.c
Since this case can never happen in a project test, this includes a unit
test for the same.
Closes https://github.com/mesonbuild/meson/issues/815
Starting with VS 2017 if the output of any command run by VS contains
the word Error it will interpret that as a fatal error, even if the exit
error code is zero.
This messes up the unit tests on VS 2017, because we sometimes want to
deliberately ignore error messages.
Change "Error" to "Problem" to mitigate this issue until a more
permanent solution is found.
Fix exception handling of missing rustc, by making it look like the other
compiler detectors

Since PR #2884, this is failing with an exception
Keep the behaviour we have had since PR #1810 (0.41.0), that ordering
comparisons of different types fail with an InterpreterException.
Also warn about equality comparisons of different types, which will one day
become an error, as per PR #2884.
PR #2527 suggests "making failing tests more strict about failing
gracefully".
To achive this, make meson exit with distinct exit statuses for meson errors
and python exceptions, and check the exit status is as expected for failing
tests.
I can't see how to write a test for this, within the current framework.
You can test this change by reverting the fix (but not the test) from commit
1a159db8 and verifying that 'test cases/failing/66 string as link target'
fails.
