Make remaining objC jobs compatible with kokoro monterey workers and
prepare for boringssl upgrade.
The changes here are taken from https://github.com/grpc/grpc/pull/32357,
but they should be merged in a separate PR
(we need the changes to be able to upgrade to monterey anyway and
there's no reason to make the boringssl upgrade PR more complicated by
bundling more fixes into it).
I've checked that the grpc_basictests_objc_examples and
grpc_ios_binary_size are green if switched to monterey.
Unfortunately it's hard to make grpc_basictests_objc_examples pass on
both monterey and mojave, so I suggest merging this PR at the same time
as CL to upgrade the kokoro jobs to monterey.
- that way both PR and continuous runs will remain green
- older branches would need a backport anyway

This is to get the latest version of clang 15 (15.0.7) for our docker
images based on that. By doing so, I had to address this new git
security enforcement so I added a new file to tame it. In a nutshell,
this PR is about polishing docker images based on clang 15.
* Revert "Revert "Add support for systemd socket activation (#30485)" (#31617)"
This reverts commit 867dc6cae2.
* Add checks to unix tests
* Ran generate_projects.sh and fixed styling in test
* Fix variable in unit test
* Use reinterpret_cast in test
* Rebase and fix sanity failures
* cmake: add separate export for plugin targets
Add a separate CMake export for the plugin targets to separate binaries
and libraries into their own CMake target export files. Skip the cross
compiled binary plugin targets during cross compile because they are not
usable and not always available.
The Yocto build system doesn't install cross compiled binaries into the
target sysroot. This makes the CMake gRPC config useless as it checks
the existent of binaries and fails without the binaries.
This is a strip down version of #22498 and related to #26148 and #26857.

* [cleanup] Remove profiling timers
- nobody has used this system in years
- if we needed it, we'd probably rewrite it at this point to be something more modern
- let's remove it until that need arises
* fix
* fixes
Should fix "Expiring Daemon because JVM heap space is exhausted".
https://github.com/grpc/grpc-java/pull/9269 probably pushed the build
over the edge, but there's been evidence via flakes for a good while
that we've been reaching the limit.

* replace darwin checks in extconf.rb to exclude TruffleRuby
* inherit RANLIB and STRIP from RbConfig, set LDXX
* enable overriding ranlib command in top-level makefile
* ensure the -no_warning_for_no_symbols flag is only used with Apple's ranlib
* don't embed openssl & zlib on truffleruby
* add RbConfig's cppflag to CPPFLAGS when using TruffleRuby
* this ensure the paths to find the system's OpenSSL are set up correctly with TruffleRuby (includes being able to find an OpenSSL installed via Homebrew etc)
* don't statically link standard libraries on Linux with Truffleruby
* This does not work when compiling to bitcode.
* Prefer SIGTERM to SIGQUIT for graceful shutdown in examples
* Overriding SIGQUIT is suboptimal, for example on JVM where it is very
useful to dump the thread stacktraces.
* Keep the rb_tr_abi_version symbol for TruffleRuby in grpc_c.so
* Otherwise TruffleRuby cannot verify the ABI version is correct.
* See https://github.com/oracle/truffleruby/issues/2386
* Use RbConfig::CONFIG['STRIP'] instead of just `strip`
* Use a local variable for apple_toolchain for consistency
* Add a comment about -static-libgcc -static-libstdc++ and TruffleRuby
* Split comment into two for openssl/zlib

* Use gRPC_INSTALL_LIBDIR for pkgconfig files
Fixes#25635.
If grpc libraries are installed in <prefix>/lib64, then .pc files should
be installed in <prefix>/lib64/pkgconfig. Before this commit, they were
always installed in <prefix>/lib/pkgconfig.
