Stefano Sabatini	a6703faa15	samplefmt: add av_get_bytes_per_sample() Deprecate av_get_bits_per_sample_fmt(), which was a misnamed function. For the moment we don't have sample formats with a non-integer number of bytes, in that case we may need to create a new av_get_bits_per_sample() function. In the meanwhile we prefer to adopt this variant, since avoids divisions by 8 all over the place.	14 years ago

Stefano Sabatini	bebe72f4a0	lavc: deprecate FF__TYPE macros in favor of AV_PICTURE_TYPE_ enums Also deprecate av_get_pict_type_char() in favor of av_get_picture_type_char(). The new enum and av_get_picture_type_char() are defined in libavutil. This allows the use in libavfilter without the need to link against libavcodec. Since neither of them got a minor bump at commit time, but were applied before the jv demuxer, they all can be considered added in this minor version. Reinhard Tartler	737eb5976f	Merge libavcore into libavutil It is pretty hopeless that other considerable projects will adopt libavutil alone in other projects. Projects that need small footprint are better off with more specialized libraries such as gnulib or rather just copy the necessary parts that they need. With this in mind, nobody is helped by having libavutil and libavcore split. In order to ease maintenance inside and around FFmpeg and to reduce confusion where to put common code, avcore's functionality is merged (back) to avutil. Alexander Strange	c0b102ca03	Deprecate avcodec_thread_init() As a side effect of the last commit, avcodec_open() now calls it automatically, so there is no longer any need for clients to call it. Instead they should set AVCodecContext.thread_count. avcodec_thread_free() is deprecated, and will be removed from avcodec.h at the next MAJOR libavcodec bump.
